care for kids
care for kids is a patronage association founded and managed by M+W Zander, Stuttgart, which gives support for children and young people worldwide in the fields of education and health.
After the coasts of south-east Asia were struck by a the flood disaster at At Christmas 2004 M+W Zander reacted immediately: a village in Batticaloa on the west coast of Sri Lanka was given direct support by donations from staff and management. A staff member of Sri Lankan origin procured and distributed food and other aid material on the spot. From this extremely personal and spontaneous aid action, there arose a wish for a long-term commitment to come to the assistance of people in need. To put this into practice, M+W Zander wanted to focus its help on children and young people. This was how we came to set up care for kids in 2005, a society to support children and young people. Because ...
»The way children experience the world is the way they will confront the world as adults.«
In collaboration with the Baden-Württemberg foundation for development and cooperation (SEZ), the patronage association selects eligible projects. Examples might be establishment of a training centre, building a school or a project targeting street children. Every Euro of member contributions or donations goes direct to the association. The administrative costs are borne by M+W Zander.
