General Contractor
As the general contractor M+W Zander was responsible for the
detail design and the complete erection of the new Electronic Center of the Audi AG in Ingolstadt. The
size of the order exceeded the total sum of 50 million euros.
Construction started in January 2002 and has been completed in spring 2003. Approx.
800 employees of the Audi AG are working in the facility comprising the technology and electronics development
as well as in the purchasing department. Offices, laboratories, workshops, testing facilities and also
a bistro have been realised within the building.
During the construction time of 18 months a successful combination of appropriate
technology, modern design and pleasant interior decor has been created. This new building stands out
due to its declined roof, three inner courtyards and the magistrale (main connection) in the longitudinal
direction of the building. This magistrale, which is painted in warm colours and flooded with light,
represents the architectural highlight of the building.
