Currently the biggest and most modern Wafer Fab of its type outside Asia is located in Freiburg, Saxony. The factory produces 300 mm wafers of outstanding quality. These wafers place the highest demands on the production facility and equipment. The plant forms another milestone in the development of Saxony to becoming one of the most important semiconductor centers in the world.

- 282,000 m² remodeled area
- Capacity 60,000 wafers per month, in development stage 1, 150,000 wafers in development stage 2
- 50 individual trades, 35 main suppliers and system suppliers (preferably regional companies), up to 800 workers on site, 80-strong team from M+W Zander
Construction time: development stage 1 within 18 months from conclusion of contract to commencement of production in June 2004
